Alert notifications are configured under Configure > All Settings > Alert: Notification Senders.

The Notification Sender Configuration page enables you to configure how notifications of alerts are sent. If a notification sender is not configured and set to be active, no notifications of the corresponding type will be sent. However, alerts will still appear in the Alerts Manager.
